Holiday Gift and Budget Tracker
A spreadsheet for holiday gifts and the rest of the holiday budget. You give each person a gift budget, set a budget for food, decorations, travel and hosting, follow each gift from idea to given, and see what is still to buy before its order-by date.

The six tabs

- Up to 60 lines for food, decorations, travel, hosting and other costs, planned and actual.

- Totals against the budget, per area and per person, gifts counted by status, the people with no gift yet and the gifts still to buy.

How it works
You type only in the cream cells. Every other cell calculates. In Excel and LibreOffice the sheets are protected so that a formula cannot be overwritten by accident; there is no password, so you can unprotect any sheet. Google Sheets does not keep that protection when it converts the file, so there, keep to the cream cells.
When you type the actual price of a gift, it replaces the planned price in the expected totals. A person whose gifts come to more than their budget is flagged on People, on each of their gifts and on the Summary.
For each gift still at Idea, the Gifts tab shows the days left to its order-by date. The count updates each time the file is opened and calculated.

Who it suits
- Anyone buying gifts for several people who wants a budget for each person and one list of what is still to buy.
- Households that also budget the meal, the decorations, the travel and the hosting around the same holiday.
- Any holiday or celebration with a date: Christmas is set by default, and you can type another name and date in Settings.
What it does not do
- It does not sync between devices, and it sends no reminders or emails.
- It does not fetch prices from stores: you type each price.
- It tracks one holiday at a time.
Questions
Can I use it for a holiday other than Christmas?
Yes. The event date is set to 25 December 2026. Type any other date in Settings, and the name of the event if you like; the days until the event follow it.
Which version of Excel do I need?
Excel 2019 or later, or Microsoft 365. The file uses only functions found in Excel 2019, and no macros.
Where do I find the files again?
Sign in to Etsy in a web browser, open Purchases, then choose Download Files. The Etsy app does not download digital files.
Can I get a refund?
If a file does not work as described here and I cannot fix it, you get a full refund. Write to hello@kitsouk.com within 14 days of your purchase. The refund policy has the details.

How was it made?
I designed this tracker and built it with AI assistance, under my direction. Its formulas were checked with 60 automated tests in LibreOffice before release. The screenshots are renders of the actual example file; no AI image generator was used.
